Text Box: Alateen, part of Al-Anon Family Groups, is a fellowship of young people, usually teenagers, whose lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking.
Alateen is where young people come together to share their experience, strength and hope with each other.
Alateen is a way for young people to discuss their difficulties, encourage one another, learn effective ways to cope with their problems and help each other to understand the principles of the Al-Anon program.
Alateen is sponsored (supervised) by an Al-Anon member who has been in Al-Anon for at least two years and presently active in Al-Anon. These sponsors must pass a background check and become certified.
Alateen is always careful to protect each other’s anonymity as well as that of all Al-Anon and A.A. members.
Alateen is not for young people with a substance abuse problem seeking sobriety.
